Navkis College of Engineering, Hassan (NCEH) follows a structured, institution-wide Mentoring and Counselling System aimed at supporting students’ academic progress, emotional well-being, personal development, and career readiness. The system is designed as a proactive, faculty-led support mechanism and is an integral part of the institution’s student-centric and outcome-oriented academic framework.
The mentoring framework functions in alignment with the Institutional Academic Calendar, departmental plans, and quality assurance mechanisms coordinated by IQAC, ensuring continuity, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Objectives of the Mentoring & Counselling System
- Build strong and meaningful teacher–student relationships
- Provide academic guidance and performance monitoring
- Support students’ emotional, psychological, and social well-being
- Facilitate smooth transition into engineering education, especially for first-year students
- Identify and address academic or personal challenges at an early stage
- Guide students towards career planning, higher education, and professional growth
- Ensure a safe, inclusive, and supportive campus environment
Mentoring Framework & Process
- Each faculty mentor is assigned a group of 20–25 students
- Regular mentor–mentee meetings are conducted as per schedule
- Academic progress, attendance, and mentoring interactions are documented through the DHI portal
- Parents are kept informed periodically regarding academic progress and concerns
- Issues requiring escalation are referred to the HoD, Counselling Cell, or specialized committees
The mentoring process is standardized through an approved Mentor–Mentee Handbook, ensuring uniformity across departments.
